Many of my days start with a conversation with a stuffed dinosaur. His name is “Dino” and has been a member of the family since Christmas of 2001.
He may be better known as Littlefoot from the Land Before Time series
He will come to the fifth step from the top, into my basement office and greet me with a cheerful “Good Morning Kim!” I will respond and the conversation will go something like this:
Kim: “Good Morning Dino! Did you sleep well?”
Dino: “Yes, I did.”
Sometimes we will exchange pleasntries and then Dino will ask:
Dino: “Do you want to see who is making me talk?”
Kim: “I do.”
At that point, my son will lean down and peek through the railing with the biggest “I fooled my mom” grin on his face. Sometimes our conversation will end this way:
Kim: “Is Jamison still asleep?”
Dino: “Yes, he is”
Kim: “Will you wake him up for me?”
Dino: “Yep.”
This will be followed by a few moments of nothing and then my son will come downstairs and declare that “Dino said you wanted me.”
Oh, to have the imagination of a 5-year-old again.
