(Note: This is “Holy Crap” Late in coming . . sometimes life just gets in the way, ‘ya know?)
Regional Weekend 2008 has come and gone and what a weekend it was! It was actually Prelims 2008 Weekend as well, so Lex and I got our serious Barbershop on!
We started the weekend with a trip to beautiful Covington Kentucky (which is apparently the “Exciting Side of Cincinnati.” And I know this because I won a gift basket from the Convention Bureau, and the little water bottle t-shirt coozie tells me so. So there.).
Anyhoo . . . Regional Contest was in Covington again and we spent Friday and Saturday there for the quartet and chorus contests. Lex was exicted for her first competition as an actual singing member of the chorus. On Friday we watched nearly all of the quartets and visited with some old friends. Good times all around.

Saturday was Chorus Contest day and we started with a 10:00 am rehearsal …

… followed by lunch, followed by lots of waiting around, as we were the last chorus on stage that day. Make up checks started at 3:00, so we killed time by watching Lord of The Rings until it was time to do hair and make up. Then we did hair and make up.

We didn’t need to gather with the rest of the group until 4:50 pm, so we taught Lex how to play Euchre and did that until then. We met with the chorus …

… and went over to the Convention Center and took the stage at about 5:45. Lex claimed she never got nervous and she certainly didn’t look it either. The chorus did a fantastic job and we were all very happy with what we put on stage. We won the AA Division contest and were 4th in the Overall contest with a score of 602. Not too shabby.
As soon as the awards were presented and we had our new shiny medals …

… we hightalied it to the room to change and hit the road for Independence, Ohio to hang and party with our guys at Prelims.
We arrived at the hotel in Independence at 11:30 pm or so and yes, there was speeding involved. We found some of the guys …

… and soon were joined by more of the guys and some of the girls and much fun followed.
Puck wore Jackie’s shoe.

Brian danced.
Harry brought Puck some forks.

We played flip cup.

We partied until well into the morning and finally went to the room to sleep at about 5:00 am.
Overall it was a pretty mo-fackin’ awesome weekend. We won some medals. The Allies qualified for International. The Alliance won their 7th straight District Contest and scored well with the package we are taking to International. Yay. For. All. Of. Us.

Yer damn tootin’ it’s the exciting side of Kentucky! I live there! I should know!
Looks like ya had fun! Pretty, sparkley medals…
Uh…what does mo-fackin’ mean?
